File Uploads

A File Upload question lets entrants attach the work itself: campaign visuals, a portfolio PDF, a case-study video. Files are stored by AwardKit and shown on the entry page, so judges never chase a Drive link that turns out to be private.

Every new program starts with one File Upload question named Attachments. Add more from Add question in the form builder, or remove it if your program is text-only.

Settings

Each File Upload question has its own accepted types and caps:

• Images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF)
• Documents (PDF)
• Video (MP4, MOV, WebM)
• Image/document size (MB): the per-file cap for images and PDFs
• Max video length (minutes): the per-file cap for video

Pick at least one type. A "Headshot" question can accept images only; an "Entry pack" question can accept PDFs only; an "Attachments" question can accept all three.

Videos are hosted and streamed automatically. Entrants upload the file once, and it plays directly on the entry page for organizers, judges, and (once the gallery opens) the public, with no third-party account involved.

What entrants see

The upload control reads Drag & drop or click to upload. Entrants drop files in or browse for them, and a file of the wrong type is refused with "That file type is not accepted here." Once the question's file count is reached, the control reads "Maximum of N files reached" until a file is removed.

Uploaded files stay editable for as long as the entry is: while entries are open, the entrant can open Edit Entry and swap or remove files.

What judges and the public see

On the entry page, videos play full-width, images appear in a thumbnail grid that opens a lightbox, and documents open in a new tab from a download link. The same rendering applies to the organizer's entry detail, the judge's entry page, and, once the gallery opens, the public entry page.

In a round with blind judging switched on, file names are masked (judges see "Attachment 1.pdf" instead of "AcmeCorp_case_study.pdf") so a file name cannot reveal who entered. Tick Hide from judges on the question if the file contents themselves identify the entrant.

Files in exports and imports

The CSV export includes an Entry Link column rather than the files themselves; open the entry to download an attachment. CSV import does not import files: entrants or organizers add them afterwards by editing the entry.

Tips

• Ask for the format judges will actually open. One PDF beats a folder of loose images for written case studies; video beats slides for product demos.
• Set caps that match the ask. A 3-minute video cap and a 20 MB document cap cover most award programs and keep judging pages fast.
• Use URL questions for things that live elsewhere (a live website, an X post) and File Upload for things that should be preserved as submitted.
